A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved four initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
